Project Description

Oculus provided design development through construction administration services for three custom, single-story, wood-framed buildings for Yuppy Puppy, a pet retailer, grooming, training and boarding facility, and Pet Doctor, a patient-focused veterinary clinic designed using Fear Free Design.

Yuppy Puppy was designed to include spaces for full-service grooming, dog training programs, daycare, and boarding including various suite sizes to suit pets of all ages, sizes, and breeds. The 10,000 SF facility is designed with two separate ventilation systems, UV Air Oasis Pro sanitizing system, on-site surveillance, and a sprinkler system to ensure the wellbeing of the staff and the pets in their care. An additional 1,200 SF building was designed to support Yuppy Puppy’s dog training programs and host training events.

The overall design of the Yuppy Puppy/Pet Doctor campus was meant to emulate an old farmstead that had been rehabbed to its current use with the Yuppy Puppy building being the home, and the Pet Doctor and additional training space being the barn and outbuilding. The master plan for the site and placement of the buildings created a courtyard area for fenced, outdoor play areas while also serving as an acoustic barrier to adjacent neighbors.
