Project Description

Total Hockey Sporting Goods Stores design by Oculus Inc. supported the nationwide expansion of this specialty sports retailer with modern, brand-consistent environments across multiple locations in Missouri, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Ranging from 4,000 to 14,000 square feet, these stores reflected a dynamic blend of performance-driven retail planning and immersive customer experience.

Oculus partnered with Total Hockey as lead architect to develop and implement their new store concept, aimed at providing a premium, modern retail experience for both hockey and lacrosse customers. As the parent company of Total Lacrosse, the client required a flexible yet cohesive design strategy to support both brands.

Design services included strategic space planning and 3D color renderings using Revit, showcasing fixture layouts, lighting design, and finish palettes. Perspective views helped stakeholders visualize key features like custom skate booths, cash wraps, and brand-forward feature walls. With the rollout of new locations in Philadelphia and Maryland, Oculus introduced an updated color scheme and design enhancements to reflect evolving brand identity.

Select stores were also outfitted with mini synthetic rinks, allowing customers to test hockey sticks in-store, merging retail with interactivity. Through each phase of expansion, Oculus continued to ensure a visually consistent brand, efficient rollout process, and economically viable approach tailored to Total Hockey’s growth.
