Project Description
Oculus provided award-winning interior design services for the new DeLalio Elementary School at Camp Lejeune, a Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) facility that redefines the traditional learning environment. Designed to support the DoDEA’s vision for 21st Century education, the school’s interiors are intentionally crafted to become an integral part of the learning experience—just as impactful as the teachers, technology, and tools within it.
The community-based floor layout encourages flexibility, collaboration, and creativity across all grade levels. Oculus’ design approach emphasized vibrant, student-centered spaces that support a range of learning styles and activities, from focused individual study to dynamic group interaction. Durable, modern materials and thoughtful color palettes create a welcoming and stimulating environment for young learners.
The project was honored with the 2020 American School & University Educational Interiors Showcase Outstanding Design Award in the Pre-K/Early-Childhood Education category, recognizing its innovation in educational design and commitment to student success.
