VA SPS and Endoscopy Renovation and Relocation

Fort Meade, SD

Project Description

The VA SPS and Endoscopy Renovation and Relocation project at the Fort Meade VA Medical Center, exemplifies Oculus Inc.’s commitment to enhancing healthcare environments through thoughtful design and meticulous planning.

The Endoscopy Department renovation introduced two Special Procedure Rooms, two Endoscopy Rooms, and dedicated areas for Scope Reprocessing, Decontamination, Soiled/Clean Utilities, and Linen Storage. Patient-focused spaces, including a comfortable waiting area and consult rooms, were designed to improve the care experience and optimize staff workflow.

The upgraded Sterile Processing Services (SPS) area includes Soiled and Clean Elevators, a Decontamination Room, Preparation and Sterilization zones, Steam Sterilization, Sterile Storage, and support spaces like locker rooms and admin offices. Each component was configured to enhance infection control and processing efficiency.

Construction was carefully phased to maintain full operational capacity throughout. Oculus worked collaboratively with VA Facilities Engineering to plan and execute the schedule with minimal disruption to staff and patient care.
