Lafayette Industries is a leader in the contract packaging world offering everything from shrink wrap to display assemblies for their corporate clients. They are also one of the area’s largest employers of adults with disabilities who wish to join the work force. Oculus teamed up with Lafayette Industries to design an expansion & renovation of their North Campus. The initial design phase included alternate schemes for either a one phase 30,000 SF expansion or two phased 15,000 SF building additions.
To adhere to specific requirements set by the Productive Living Board (PLB), Oculus developed several design/phasing options in order to accurately meet their needs. Because of our firm’s experience using time saving software such as Revit BIM, we are able to produce the initial design materials at a much faster rate to make sure PLB & Lafayette’s needs were met.
The various construction phasing alternates were presented to the PLB who approved the funding. Then Oculus was asked to complete the design development & Construction Documents for the project, which is now under construction.
The new addition and renovation to the existing facilities added approximately 18,275 SF & allowed for over 80 new employees. The newly expanded facility now boasts a comprehensive 46,500 SF & room for over 210 employees.
