Summer Architectural Intern – St. Louis

Oculus Inc. is seeking a Summer Architectural Interns who will act as Design and Production Support team members to assist architectural and interior design project teams. This role is ideal for college students pursuing a degree in Architecture or Interior Architecture who are interested in gaining practical experience in professional practice, design production, and project delivery.

 

Background:

  • College student currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or Interior Architecture
  • Working knowledge of Autodesk Revit is essential; fluency in Revit modeling or family creation is a significant advantage
  • Working knowledge of other software tools such as 3D Studio Max, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft SharePoint
  • Team-oriented attitude with strong collaboration skills
  • Interest in sustainability and/or LEED certification
  • Willingness to learn new skills and work flexibly across assignments as needed
  • Ability to interpret space needs and program data and translate them into workable floor plans
  • Interest in or relevant exposure to healthcare, government, commercial, retail, or interior architecture projects
  • Ability to organize tasks, set priorities, and manage personal time effectively

 

General

  • Provides design and production support to architectural and interior design project teams.
  • Assists with plotting, printing, and assembling drawing sets.
  • Supports field surveying efforts and documentation of existing conditions.
  • Assists architectural, interior design, and marketing staff with project-related tasks.
  • Performs general project, library, and office administrative functions as needed.
  • Utilizes advanced technology and information tools deployed throughout the firm.
  • Supports Building Information Modeling (BIM) and object-based design workflows.
  • Some flexibility in work hours may be required based on project needs.

 

Staff Development

  • Works under the guidance of job captains, project managers, and senior staff.
  • Receives mentoring and exposure to professional practice, documentation standards, and office workflows.
  • Builds technical, organizational, and collaborative skills through hands-on project involvement.
  • Actively seeks feedback and applies lessons learned to improve performance.

 

Projects

  • Assists project teams on healthcare, government, and commercial projects of varying types and scales.
  • Supports the development of drawings and documents across multiple phases of design.
  • Helps translate program requirements and design concepts into clear, organized documentation.
  • Coordinates with team members to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
  • Supports QA/QC efforts by maintaining organized files and accurate documentation under supervision.
