Marketing & Business Development Manager

Oculus Inc. is a nationally recognized architecture and interior design firm seeking a collaborative, organized, and strategic Marketing & Business Development Manager to support the firm’s marketing, communications, and business development efforts.

 

Position Summary

Reporting directly to the President, this position will work closely with firm leadership, market sector leaders, project teams, and external marketing partners to execute marketing strategies, support business development efforts, strengthen client relationships, and enhance Oculus’ visibility across its target markets.

The ideal candidate brings experience in the AEC industry, strong project management skills, and a solid understanding of marketing and business development practices. This role will serve as the primary internal coordinator for marketing initiatives while partnering with external agencies and consultants on content development, digital marketing, performance data, and communications efforts.

 

Primary Responsibilities

Marketing & Business Development Coordination

  • Support implementation of Oculus’ Marketing & Business Development Plan.
  • Collaborate with leadership and market sector leaders to identify marketing priorities and business development opportunities.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of annual marketing initiatives aligned with firmwide growth objectives.
  • Monitor industry trends, client activity, competitor activity, and market opportunities.
  • Track marketing and business development activities and support reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs) with an emphasis on digital marketing metrics.
  • Maintain annual marketing budgets related to events, conferences, sponsorships, and marketing initiatives.

Business Development & Pursuit Support

  • Partner with market sector leaders to support pursuit strategies and client development efforts.
  • Coordinate preparation of proposals, qualifications packages, interview presentations, and pursuit-related marketing materials.
  • Support key account development strategies through targeted communications, campaigns, and relationship-building initiatives.
  • Assist with conference planning, event preparation, and post-event follow-up activities.
  • Maintain client, prospect, and opportunity information within the firm’s CRM system.
  • Support business development reporting, pipeline tracking, and client contact management.

Brand Management & Marketing Communications

  • Help ensure consistency of the Oculus brand, messaging, and visual identity across all internal and external communications.
  • Coordinate development and maintenance of marketing collateral, project profiles, presentations, and proposal resources.
  • Assist with internal communications related to employee engagement, recruiting, and company culture initiatives.
  • Support market-specific messaging and positioning efforts across the firm’s service offerings and market sectors.

Agency & External Partners Coordination

  • Serve as the primary day-to-day liaison between Oculus and external marketing, public relations, and communications partners.
  • Coordinate content needs, project priorities, deadlines, and approvals with external agencies.
  • Collaborate with external partners to help grow Oculus’ digital presence through website updates, digital marketing initiatives, thought leadership content, social media campaigns, and email marketing efforts.
  • Manage relationships with photographers, printers, web developers, conference organizers, and other marketing vendors.
  • Help ensure marketing initiatives are completed on schedule, within budget, and aligned with firm goals.

Content & Digital Marketing Support

  • Coordinate content development efforts with internal subject matter experts and external marketing partners.
  • Support website content updates, project page development, and thought leadership initiatives.
  • Collaborate with external partners to optimize content for both traditional SEO and AI/answer-engine optimization (AISEO/GEO).
  • Analyze digital performance data and translate insights into action to improve reach, engagement, and marketing ROI.
  • Assist with conference marketing campaigns, speaking opportunities, award submissions, and public relations initiatives.

 

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business, or related field.
  • 5+ years of marketing, business development, or communications experience.
  • Experience within the architecture, engineering, construction, design, real estate, or professional services industries.
  • Experience supporting proposals, pursuits, presentations, and business development initiatives.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Strong project management, organization, and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign.

Preferred

  • Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint or similar CRM platforms.
  • Familiarity with WordPress, email marketing platforms, website analytics (e.g., Google Analytics 4, Search Console), and search optimization (AISEO/GEO).
  • Experience working with external agencies, consultants, or other vendors.
  • Involvement in SMPS or other AEC industry organizations.
  • Understanding of business development processes within the AEC industry.
