Technology

Throughout Oculus' existence, we continually sought to improve the abilities of our design team. The technology we utilize, as well as our relentless drive to improve the processes and methodology we use in solving problems for our clients, has given us a critical edge repeatedly.

One of the ways we accomplished this was to adopt and deploy the best technological tools available for the job because it allows us to leverage our experience, knowledge, and effort, and offer our clients better, more creative, and more efficiently delivered services.

The deployment of this technology directly impacts the type, scale, and value of the services we provide and for our clients and projects. Several years ago, we transitioned from the traditional CAD drafting environment to work in a Building Information Model (BIM) environment and became recognized leaders for BIM deployment.

This significantly transformed our firm’s design and documentation process by greatly reducing the effort required for coordinating basic yet essential project information and allowing our design teams to focus much more of their time and energy on the big decisions surrounding a project. By transforming our work from a primarily 2D graphic environment to a 3D environment, not only our designers but also our clients reap powerful benefits from better project understanding and visualization.

However, this transformation to BIM is more than just about pretty pictures; it is about building a better understanding of designs, reducing conflicts, reducing documentation mistakes, and making significant improvements both in the quality of information and awareness of our projects.

BIM, however, is not the only technological advancement we are utilizing. We host a full Microsoft SharePoint Portal server site to assist our project managers and clients keep track of the hundreds of projects that we complete each year.

This SharePoint site allows our project teams to track, manage, sort, and share a wide variety of project information in a secure environment, facilitating the fluid and accurate exchange of project information to users across the nation. In every aspect of our work, we seek to empower our staff to utilize the absolute best tools, technology, and work processes available today.
